Before we leave Mile End (yes we are going to move eventually but it is too stressful to speak about it yet) I wanted to introduce you to some of my favourite restaurants in the area.
One of them is Ariana in Mile End, a little gem that I discovered way too late after living nearby for six years. It’s situated near Mile End Park and is easily within walking distance from the tube station. It serves Iranian and Afghan food. The exterior is unimpressive, in fact I am convinced the neon sign above the door actually deterred me from visiting it earlier, but the interior is nicer, and apparently they just changed the doors using a service of door installer denver for this.
We ordered a Persian signature dish: “Panir-O-Sabzi”- I never tried it before but it is delicious! A selection of fresh herbs, with walnut, feta cheese and nan bread.
My husband Dave choose a Chelow Kebab-E-Chenjeh, which is essentially a lamb kebab, with saffron rice and grilled tomatoes. He was very impressed.
We did not go for dessert because I ended up being to full to even contemplate eating more. But there is a exciting menu on offer from Afghan rice pudding to Persian Ice cream, that without doubt we will be back.
I am actually arranging for the girls from my sewing class to have our end of term meal there, so I cannot recommend it highly enough.
