Ubaka U Rwanda is a Christian Charity located in Kigali, Rwanda. It was founded by my friend Becky in the summer of 2008. She visited Rwanda intially to spend the summer working with one of the local charities, when she met Evode grew up as a streetchild himself, and was organised an activities for streetchildren, provided volunteers and tried to help them integrate them into society. However every time the day ended the boys would have to return back onto the street.
Becky rented a house with help from donations from friends in England and fundraising. Thanks to this over 30 boys now have a roof over their head and regular meals. More than that they have a sensation of home, surrounded by people who care about and believe in them, many of them for the first time in their lives.
In order to maintain the centre, Ubaka U Rwanda was set up as a charity in England to help raise awareness and urgently needed funds.
I am involved in the charity as the IT and Marketing coordinator. I developed the website www.ubakaurwanda.org.uk , which is build on a google applications platform.
